Audio Fluctuates in Multitrack

New Here ,

Hi all. I'm sure this is a simple fix but am having trouble and can't find the answer anywhere. I'm relatively new to Audition and haven't made any custom changes or preferences to the config.

When I listen to audio in Waveform, it sounds great. When I add it to Multitrack, the audio levels seem to fluctuate throughout. It dips up and down. This happens on all wav files.

Video attached, where I play it in Waveform then in Multitrack.

Help is appreciated.

When you started the Multitrack session did you start from a new blank session or did you use one of Audition's Templates? It sounds as though you may have some effects added to the Multitrack that are affecting the levels of your audio playback. Open up the Effects Rack and make sure that there aren't any added effects or that the Rack is turned off.

As an aside your audio levels are rather on the high side which may cause some problems. The red clipping lights are coming on all the time which shouldn't happen. You need to reduce the level by at least 3dB to be on the safe side, more if you are going to be mixing in other tracks.
