Hello
I have several dozen audio cassettes from the 1970s.
On most of the converted tapes to digital the audio is faint.
In order to work on the audio I can get started if I increase Amplification +25
Is there another approach to increase audio so that I can work on the material?
I am thinking that by increasing Amplification greater than +20 I increase hidden distortions.
Let me know if there is a method to increase the volume without damage.
Here is an audio sample as is.
Thanks!
No you can increase the Amplification by as much as you need. It won't alter the audio in way except to make it louder. However it will then lat you here much more of the background noise, hum and any other imperfections of the original recording. How did you do the conversion from audio cassette to digital audio files? Really the levels should have been increase to a better level at time of transfer.

Interesting.
I usually use a Onkyo cassette deck running the audio wire from deck to computer for the capture.
In this instance I used a Sony walkman style cassette to mp3 converter that records what is played to the flash drive.
