Hi there,
I will forward this by saying I am completely winging it when it comes to using Adobe Audition. I recorded my second podcast with the tool using the single file (wav format I believe). I literally don't know where it went but know that it successfully recorded because I've listened to it several times. I was about to save it as an mp3 to compress the file and then all of a sudden it was gone. I believe a pop up came up and I may have foolishly clicked out of it, maybe deleting my file. I don't know where else to look for it or if it can be recovered. Any help with this would be extremely appreciated!
Thanks,

Unfortunately yes you will likely have lost it. Audition records audio in two different ways depending on which view you are operating it in. In the Waveform view, which you were using, the audio is recorded into a temporary memory on your computer and isn't safe until you Save it if the computer crashes for some reason. Whereas in the Multitrack view, where Audition can record several audio streams at once, the audio goes direct to disc.
So if using the Waveform view to record it is always best to make sure that you save the recorded audio to a named file immediately before trying to do anything else to it. And always use .wav for storing the audio whilst editing not a lossy compressed audio file format like .mp3. Only convert to a compressed file format once your editing is done in order to supply a file for the end user. If you are sensible you will hang on to the .wav file as an archived backup in case it is required again in the future.

Thanks for taking the time to give me some feedback! It seems as though moving forward recording through the Multitrack view would be wise.
