Audition crashing after adding Valhalla reverb plug-in

I love Audition, I really do. It's what I learned on back in the CEP days, and I still use it for all of my mixing and mastering, but as of late (the last year or 2) It has been crashing on me over and over again. This morning I opened up a brand new session, loaded maybe 15 tracks into the session, did my gain staging, panning, adjusted levels, added a stereo buss, clicked to add a reverb plugin to the buss and BOOM. Crash. It was the only plugin I had even attempted to put in the session. I hadn't even used and stock plugins yet. Luckily I had saved the session right before trying to open the plugin because it crashes all of the time any more. I kept working on the mix for a couple of hours and I think that Audition crashed on me at least 20 more times working on that mix.

I have sent my crash files to Adobe more than once. I have NEVER gotten a response. I always send the error report if given the option, yet it never changes anything. I would say that it's the non-stock plugins, but it even happens when I open the sock plugins. It's ridiculous.

I have plenty of RAM, I have reinstalled my operating system multiple times, I have reinstalled Audition several times, I have tried 2 different hard drives, and am now running on an SSD. It is the only software that this happens to. I'm about to ditch Audition completely and jump to ProTools, even though I don't want to. I have quite a few clients who need work done in a timely manner, and I'm spending half of my time restarting software just to get a single plugin to load or open.

Are there any other options to getting this figured out?

I am running Windows 10 on a Dell XPS 8700, 24G RAM, through a steinberg UR22mkII AISO audio interface.

There have been a number of reports very similar to yours, but this really doesn't happen to everybody, believe me. The only thing I can say is that you need to follow explicitly the steps contained in the Audition Crashed.  Now what? FAQ, and send your report to audbugs@adobe.com. Most importantly, make sure that you send a return email address - just submitting a crash report doesn't include this automatically, which may be why you haven't had any replies. That said, there is a comment on the bug reporting page that says this:

"We normally do not send personal replies to feature requests or bug reports. We do, however, read each and every message. We use the information to improve  our products and services. Your comments, suggestions, and ideas for improvements are very important to us. We appreciate you taking the time to send us this information."...

The other thing that may well be important to send is precise details of your hardware, and how up-to-date the drivers are. This is one area that there's some suspicion about, and mainly this appears to relate to drivers (not necessarily audio) that may be thrown into chaos by OS updates. But, we really don't know. All we do know is that a) these problems have been very hard to replicate, and b) people have to go on submitting reports, otherwise it'll never get fixed (whatever it is...)

Yes it's a pain. No, it shouldn't be happening, and unfortunately it is - but not to the majority of users, otherwise we'd have been overwhelmed with responses, and something would have happened.

What was the Reverb plugin that you added? Since this seems to be critical to your crash on this occasion it would be helpful to know if it was one of Audition's built in effects or a third party one. Third party VST effects plugins can be very variable and, although Audition adheres to the VST 2 and 3 standards, there can be variations between the software plugin suppliers and their compatibility with Audition..
