Hi All
I am running an instance of Audition CS6 on a Win 7 Pro box in a domain environment.
The instance uses the machinespecificsettings.xml file as the default for all the domain users - the device defaults box is ticked in Preferences>Audio Hardware. No problem with that, it has been running for a year or so and I know where the xml file is.
I want to change the audio hardware on the box and want to save out a new settings file somewhere so I can replace the existing.
Trouble is I have forgotten how I did it last time and I remember it was a bit of an uphill struggle!
I can use my user account to untick the device defaults box so that I can choose the new hardware and set up the channel mapping then close Audition. Next time Audition starts it loads MY defaults correctly. If I then tick the box and shut Audition it correctly reverts to the machine specific defaults file. No problem there.
But where the **** does Audition store MY default machine settings, and what is the file called so I can use that as the new global settings? I have done all the usual searches based on modified date etc.for .xml files and can't find what I need.
Remember this is CS6 and Win 7 Pro in a domain. CC solutions won't necessarily help.
Thanks
Christopher

The file is MachineSpecificSettings.xml in "C:\Users\'Username'\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Audition\6.0"

Sorry for the long delay in replying.
The path you specify is not valid: This is a domain environment. There are multiple users. The users profiles and accounts are not on the same machine as the software (although local user profiles are created on the machine). An actual MachineSpecificSettings.xml is in use on "<local machine>\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Audition\5.0" but I need to now change the hardware settings . There is no equivalent path in my local account in the users folder on that machine and the file does not exist in my user profile or account on the server. So I am at a loss as to where to find the file so I can make my settings the default for all users.
I assume that if I untick the "use machine-specific device defaults" box then Audition will save my current settings to a file in my profile and use that. So if I make the changes whilst I am logged in they will get saved on exit (this is what actually happens but I cannot locate the file).
So any further help would be appreciated.

Actually for the local machine the path should be "C:\Users\'Username'\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Audition\5.0" for your profile.
However this is on a Win 10 PC.But I am fairly sure that it was the same back in Win 7. Not sure what the "local machine>\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Audition\5.0"" path is though. Or I'm afraid what happens with multiple user logins on a domain installation. The best people to answer this would be one of the developers such as _Durin. You could try PMing him.
