I am using Adobe Audition for the first time and am having a problem making a simple audio recording. As you can see, after recording for about 40 seconds doesn't even give me one second of audio. My mics and playback devices are working with other programs but Audition cannot pick up anything.
Is this on a Mac or a PC? If it's a Mac you will have to go to your security settings and 'allow' your mic to be seen by Audition. But other than that, you will have to set Audition's audio settings in Preferences before it will work, regardless. If you want more help then you will have to provide us with more details about your system.
besides what Steve already wrote there is also for PC the choice to make what input device do you want to use. Further more it looks a bit like your Computer has a bit of a problem itself (the jerking of the recording). Maybe try also update your drivers for the Input Device.
