Hello there!
I'd love this answered ASAP. I have a Macbook Pro laptop that I am using to record stuff on for voice acting. My XLR microphone is connected to a Focusrite Scarlett Solo interface. I made sure that everything is connected properly and I can hear myself when I am recording. Even when I changed the hardware preferences to make sure that the Scarlett Solo will record my audio, I do not see anything on my screen when I am trying to record. Can anyone help me out?
Thanks in advance,
cfreedbe
Since this is a Mac, have you checked the Privacy settings for the mic on your computer? There are a number of posts in this forum where users have experienced similar problems, almost always resolved by checking those settings.

Does it actually record (in other words, does the transport move)? And is this in Multitrack or Waveform view?

The transport does not move and I am recording in Waveform view.

I am still having this problem and have not received a satisfactory response to my question. If anyone can help me solve this issue, I would very much appreciate it.

I'm sorry you didn't get any more replies earlier - this stupid forum software makes things disappear sometimes, and because of this they get missed, as this did.
Yes you have to allow mics to be used in the security settings on Macs, but since you said that the transport doesn't move, I'm wondering whether you have the device class allocated correctly. Difficult for me to describe accurately because I'm not a Mac owner, but the basic idea is that Macs aggregate all available audio inputs and devices into something called Core Audio, and it's this that you have to select in the Device Class setting in Edit>Preferences>Audio Hardware in Audition. Whithout doing this, it definitely won't work.

This was the problem! I didn't realize that it involved privacy settings being changed! Thank you so much for helping me solve this issue!

I don't think a lot of Mac users realised this. Why would they? By and large - as usual - Apple never bothered to tell them...
