Both Audition25 and Audition24.6.3 are stuck on "Initializing AUBackend".

This is deeply frustrating as I have one task to do before I move on to others, and this problem is preventing that.  I've tried shutting my PC down and restarting it and nothing seems to work.

There really isn't enough information to go on here, but what has worked for others in the past with similar issues is

to completely uninstall Audition using the CC cleaner app, and reinstall it from scratch.

If you still have the same problem afterwards, then it's possible that the corruption is outside Audition, and in a .dll, or another part of the C library. Audition uses external libraries to provide the actual commands that the computer requires to run it. At this point it gets a bit more serious, and you may have to reinstall your operating system, but hopefully it won't be that bad.
