A 2-part question:
I recently got a new laptop and when transferring things, I found an AA CC 2017 folder. It got me wondering if I can delete old AA veersion folders. I am using the latest version CC24.
Also:
I am using the current version (Build 24.2.0.83) and when opening it, it's still looking for things from 2023 version. Can I safely delete the 23 folder as well?
When opening the latest version, it's still seeking info from the previous version still on this computer and the old laptop. I get this message:

Auditions primary temp folder cannot be found

C:\ users\ michael\ appdata\ local\ temp\ adobe\ audition\ 23.0

Please review auditions disk cache preferences

Where and how do I change this?

Thanks for any insight someone can provide!

Short answer: Yes.

Probably the most sensible thing to do (but might be slightly OTT) is delete everything on there to do with Audition and start again. Adobe have a cleaner tool that gets rid of far more than a normal uninstall does, and you can find that here. The reason that Audition looks for older installations is that ideally, it will look for presets, templates, etc and use these on the new release, saving you from having to recreate it all from scratch. But in your case, it doesn't see

UPDATE!
I was able to adress the temp folder situation.

I also found in the C: Users\Public section many old AA folders. Why they are in public, I have no clue. Can I safely delete all but 2024? (They are all dated the day I transfered computers)

The reason that Audition looks for older installations is that ideally, it will look for presets, templates, etc and use these on the new release, saving you from having to recreate it all from scratch. But in your case, it doesn't seem to apply. I think that's also why a lot of these settings are in Public - they can be accessed there without having to ask for permissions to access them when updates are happening.
