Can i use the 'marks' created on a Marantz 661 recorder in Audition?

How can i read the marks (created by pressing the 'Mark' button during recording) on a wav file, within Audition? I was hoping they would appear as audition's 'cues'.  😞

Thanks,

John

Sorry, not version 3 [my mistake] I'm using CS6 in this case.

I think you have to use the Marantz PMD marker editor first. Marantz then claim that you can use the markers with other software editors. I don't have either the software or a Marantz, so I'm afraid that I can't confirm this absolutely. But Marantz wouldn't have produced that software unless there was a real need for it, would they? 😉

Thanks Steve! I've found the software, and am currently having a play with it.

Later:- I've found you can use their software to divide the file at the marks [whose position you can change] into several separate files [saved as filename-01(etc).wav] . But I can't find any option to export the marks in a form recognised as Cues [or whatever] in Audition [eg]. Which is a shame, and to me useless and disappointing.

It occured to me that Marantz and Denon are effectively the same firm, and that I have a Denon rack recorder. So I downloaded the software, and discovered that Denon wrote it anyway! I created a file with some marks, and opened it up in their software. Yes, there are all the marks. And what exactly can you do with them? Yeah, quite...

I do know a bit more about what form they take though - they are stored as chunks - in a similar way to cart cues. Now, Audition can write cart cues. Can it read them? Well it doesn't appear to (I've been through all of the metadata), but I think it ought to. I will make enquiries...

Yes, I saw that the Denon/Marantz cues are stored as chunks, but not being 'into' the nitty-gritty of wav file structures, it didn't mean much to me. In any case, it's largely irrelevant to me now as...:-

We also use the Tascam DR-100 Mk2, and the mark function on these machines puts down marks which (when the .wav is imported) appear automatically in Audition (CS6 / ver5, at least) as cue markers, but unlabelled or numbered. I'll be using the Tascam recorder from now on (if the cues are going to be useful, at least).
