I have 2 stereo tracks of the same recording which I want to combine into 1 track. I would like to be able to mix the 2 tracks, such as 60% of track 1 and 40% of track 2 in order to get the right balance since one is a sound board recording and the other is an audience.
I have brought both tracks into a multitrack session and lined them up so they are timed correctly. What I can't figure out is how to apply percentages to each track to get the right mix before I do a mixdown.
What I want to do is try a percent, listen and then maybe adjust.
How do I do this?

Audio doesn't generally work in percentages, especially when it comes to volume levels. It works in dB, and the easiest way to control the levels of individual tracks is to click on the Mixer tab, and use the faders in there. The reason for working in dB (deciBels) is because out perception of changes in sound levels is fundamentally logarithmic, not linear, and if you used percentages to vary the levels, you'd find a lot of change cramped up at one end of the mixer control, with very little change the other end. By using logarithmic controls, the perception of sound changes are much smoother and more controllable.
The other thing you might like to consider is the Automation system. This would let you vary the levels of each track at appropriate places, and you could retain this information so that it automatically applied the changes during mixdown.

Thanks for your reply. I see now that it is simple to adjust the dB cut to get the right mix.
