I'm still fairly new to the creative cloud versions of these applications, especially audition. My school does not keep their versions up to date as frequently as I do with my at home versions. This quarter, my school is still running audition cc 2016, however my copy already updated to audition cc 2017. I'd like to know if I would be able to work on my files here at home and still be able to work on them in class as well on their earlier version?
Or would it be more likely that once I try to open my file from audition cc 2017 on a copy of audition cc 2016, I would receive a message saying "this work was created on a newer version of audition and cannot be opened"? Any help is appreciated!

There should be no problem--as recently as today I opened a session created in the 2016 version and worked on it in the 2017 release completely seamlessly.
A couple of caveats--if you use any totally new features in 2017, they won't be backwards compatible to 2016--but I think most of these are in the area of the help screen and so on.
Second, since you mention what I know to be a common message in Premiere Pro, this is one area where you DO need to use the same releases of Audition/Premiere Pro/Media Encoder to ensure things work.

Thank you so much!
So, if I already have a file in progress where I did use Premier 2016 to import the video to audition to add my sound, does that mean if I were to switch it to my home program that is updated to the latest, I could potentially have issues? I'm having to process four different versions of the same video with different audio for this project so I would hate to mess anything up!
