Hello! I've read all of the other posts and am at a loss. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, restarted my MacBook Pro, and still have crackling upon playback. I have a deadline for editing this podcast and am trying to figure out what I did or didn't do so this doesn't happen again. Any thoughts?

I think we'd need to hear an example of this before we could get anywhere at all...

Well, so here's where I think it gets weirder. It's fine when I export it. But, not when I'm listening to it in order to edit it. It sounds fine while I'm in Audacity (had to open it to double-check) or when I listen on my laptop.

I fixed it!! I changed the Sample rate, and the Buffer size, and it seems fine now. Weird. It's never happened before. This is one more reason I want to really dig deep with audio editing and get into the engineering side. Thank you for your help!

Chances are you didn't need to change the sample rate - that's just a buffer issue you've got. The reason that it's okay when mixed down is that that process doesn't involve the buffer, the primary purpose of which is to even out the flow of your file into a physical device (your sound device).

Thanks so much for this info. I'm definitely going to be doing a deep dive into this over the weekend. I appreciate your help and feedback, Steve.
