Didn't change any settings now voice comes out over speakers as I record

Hello,

I've been using audition with a Yeti Blue USB mic for a while now. I use it to record an intro to podcast episodes. I plug headphones into the Yeti to monitor the sound and then record. Now when I record my voice also comes out of the iMac speakers. I know I can select the Yeti as the default audio output but it doesn't make any sense to me that the voice would be coming out over the speakers as if this were suddenly a PA system. Any ideas?

Are you recording in the Multitrack view in the latest CC2018 version? if so a new feature is turned on by default which may explain this behaviour. Go to Preferences/Multitrack and make sure that 'enable smart monitoring' box is unticked under 'When arming tracks for record'.

Thanks ryclark

I had a similar problem and it was driving me bonkers having to mute stuff every time I needed to record a quick fix to an audiobook. Life is better now!

That is because you still have the Input monitoring button (orange 'I') selected on your track 1.

In that case you don't have your audio set up correctly. What audio interface are you using to record from and how are you connected to the other people who need to hear you?

I've been having a similar problem with respect to Audition not recognizing my Yeti in a Multitrack session. I should say that this is the first time I'm opening up these sessions omn a new iMac Pro. I have the mic chosen as my input in Audio Hardware. Have it set as my input on my track- but yet when it's armed I get no level. Checked System Preferences>Sound and it sees the mic there. So this one's a real head scratcher. Any feedback or help you could offer would be GREATLY appreciated.
