Distorted audio when recording to Audition

I'm having a problem with my audio that is doing my head in and it's only started since I've been using a new computer.

When recording audio into Audition using ASIO4ALL v2 so that I can use four microphone inputs, for about 1 in every 10 minutes the audio coming into Audition is distorted. Listening through my interface and there's no distortion at all.

I've tried all the different buffer sizes and sample rates but don't know what else to try.

And I can't find another drive that allows me to use more than two inputs to record at once, which I need.

Please help!

It won't be the buufer size or sample rate but rather that you are overloading the input gain

Maybe you have it set to +4dbu rather than -10dBV?

Thank you for the reply. I know I probably should know this answer, but where abouts can I change that setting?

Thank you.

Hmmm, ASIO4all doesn't seem to have those settings available.

What is your audio interface?
Does it have 4 physical inputs?
Does it have an ASIO driver?
If so why are you using ASIO4all?
Are you recording with effects?
If so are they internal Audition fx or 3rd party?

Ok thank you for trying to help!

My interface is Behringer Uphoria UMC404HD

Yep it has four physical input slots but the driver only allows to record from 2 of them at once (Unless I'm doing something wrong and can't work out how to use all 4)

So I'm using ASIO4all because it's the only way I can work out to use more than 2 inputs at once

The only effects I'm using is applying a Hard Limiter

Hope that gives you some ideas!

"Maybe you have it set to +4dbu rather than -10dBV?"

They would be the Line & Inst buttons on each of your inputs

However, if the input gain is too hot it would be distorted all the time not just every now and then.

So because it is intermittent I would be looking at a faulty lead or some other interference

If the issue is at regular intervals (ie the same length of time between appearing) it could be because you have some trial FX installed
