Effects question

If im in multitrack view is it possible to add effects to one word without going into waveform view and destructively editing the .wav? The only way i can see so far is to cut out the word and put it on another track and send it to a bus, or add am effect to that track. Any ideas?

The automation system will let you apply any effect to a single word, yes - you don't need to do anything destructive at all, If you pick the word you want to effect, select the effect you want to use, and then expose its envelope, then using this you can control the way it's applied very precisely:

First set up the effect you want on the track, and everything else you need to know is in the screen-grab. I've circled the envelope where I've applied it to a single phrase.
