Footswitch Record with Surface Controller

Hi everyone,

hope you are well.

I'm using Adobe Auditions 2021 with a Presonus Faderport Classic surface controller. I've managed to get all the buttons working but I can't seem to get a footswitch to work as the record function. I'm using a Boss Fs-5U.

I want to punch in and out while I'm playing acoustic, so I thought a footswitch to record would be best.
Does anyone know why it won't work? Do I need to assign the footswitch to record in Adobe Auditions somehow? Any help would be very much appreciated as I'm starting to lose my mind.
Thank you all.

Kris

My understanding, from the only video I've seen about this, is that the footswitch in the Faderport was hard-wired to the Record button. Does the Record button function at all? We know it's possible to remote-start a record, because the old Red Rover does...

Hi Steve,

Thanks for your reply.
The record button does work as I've used it to record. It lights up red as it should do, but when I plug my pedal into the port on the back of the controller it doesn't light up the record button or activate record on Adobe. It basically does nothing.
I'm not sure what to do next.

Thanks for your help mate!

I've looked a little more carefully at the switch spec. If it's the U version, it's the unlatched version. I suspect that what you need is the L version, which is a momentary 'make' switch. You should be able to test this on the Faderport with a bit of wire and a jack plug - just touch the two contacts together, and it should light up record (I think). Another touch should stop it again. If that works, you need the FS-5L.
