Garbled, distorted audio with Adobe CC and Mac Mojave

Hello;

I have been using Adobe Audition with absolutely no issues until recently when I noticed garbled and distorted audio on what was previously fine

The same tracks work fine in other editors, but I don't know what happened with this of late. It sounds like a mist racking VHS hifi tape if that's of any help.

I have a 2014 Macbook Pro laptop

Any help on this would be truly appreciated

What audio interface are you using? Is it correctly set up to match the sample rate of Audition? Try increasing the buffer size in Audition's Audio hardware setup page.

Which remedy cured the problem for future reference?
