I was working on a complicted multitrack session for a client for HOURS. Deadline is tomorrow. I saved frequently and revised. When I played back the mixdown there's a super weird glitch about 13 minutes in the track is repeating itself and now the whole thing from then on is a mess. I pulled up the orginal recording session as well and it sounds super weird all the sudden - this is the master file I saved and didn't touch, When I finished I did get an error but I remember what it was. I do have the back up folder but I'm afraid to open it. The audio files LOOK totally normal but just play back really weird. Can anyone help trouble shoot or point me in the right direction?

I suspect that you need SuiteSpot to look at your session file - it sounds as though it might be corrupted. I'm presuming that you meant that you don't remember what the error was - which is a shame, because it might provide a clue. Other than that, we have nothing to go on. It's unlikely that the original audio is corrupted, unless you have a seriously faulty drive, though.
Do other files and sessions still play okay?

Thank you. Correct, I *don't remember the error -but I think it said something about unable to save or disc cache - or something and to close audition. I have closed and restarted and the error is still there. Other session files do play correctly.

It is hard to say without actually seeing the session or the sesx file
You say you have the 'master file' - not sure what you mean by that but do not open it unless you make a copy (or two) first
I'm happy for you to send me the session including audio - send to info@aatranslator.com.au
However it is 1:20am and I may not get to it before your deadline but if you email me the sesx first I will try and check it before I crash for the night

The sesx file looks OK so I am keen to see the media files

Yep "Track 2_002.wav" is certainly corrupted so if you do have a copy or the original master file now would be the time to bring that out (after making a copy).
As SteveG suggests the cause could be hard disk related so backup often and if you have a 2nd internal hard drive maybe save there
Too late now but the original error message would certainly have helped give a clue as to the cause

I was editing a pair of files for a podcast I helped record, and as I imported them into and began working on them in a multitrack, Audition popped up a warning that it was having trouble saving or something of the sort, and it instructed me to close and reopen Audition, which I did. Upon reopening the files, there was still a standard waveform, but no sound whatsoever- looking at the spectral frequency display, there was just nothing there.
Like an idiot, I was using the original files, so I didn't have a backup. Aaargh!!! Files are definitely corrupted, and after discussing with Adobe support staff, there's apparently nothing I can do to recover them. *bleepity blank* I lost hundreds of dollars with the corruption of those files, and will now need to re-record the podcast for the client. So, so upset.

Thank you so much for the offer! After a quick prayer, I recovered a backup on the site where we hosted the podcast; it had been deleted, but since it was so soon afterward, they were able to recover it. *relieved sigh* So no lasting harm done, and I learned (again) not to be in such a rush that I forget to back up important files. *facepalm* Thanks again!
