How to let effects persist?

Explorer ,
Sep 03, 2017 Sep 03, 2017

I have loved Audition, but, not for one thing. I have to create separate tracks to add different effects to clips. I mean, the effects don't seem to persist after the clip is over. For example, if I add Delay or Echo as a clip effect, it stops as the clip ends even if there are more tracks (or clips) after that. So, if in a track, I have to add different effects to different parts of the track, I have to create a whole new track and that makes the "Clip Effect" option useless. Any solution to keep the effect lasting even after clip ends? I hope I could explain it clearly. Please let me know if anyone didn't understand.

How are you applying the effects to the clips? Are you adding them as realtime effects or adding them to the audio file in the Waveform view? Normally if you are applying Reverb or Echo to a clip you would sue a Bus with the effect applied and use the Track sends to send the clip audio to the Bus. That way the effect keeps on after the clip ends because the Reverb is on the separate Bus track.

I am adding effects in what we can see in the "Clip Effects" and "Track Effects" pane on the left. So, yeah. I am adding effects to the audio as the real time effects (I consider).

(I consider it's "see"  bus). I can't see any bus track. And, I am new to this and so, please take a bit of time to explain it to me well. So, where is the bus thing you're talking about and how do I use Track Sends?

There are plenty of resources available to tell you about buses, and the stuff you can do with them. Worth reading, as they can get you out of a lot of trouble (such as you are presently experiencing with clips):

Okay. I am going through it. So, learning that solves my question, right? Or, is there something else I am supposed to know for that?

Should do, yes. If you send your clips to a bus with an effect on it, you can control when it gets sent using the volume automation lane, and if you leave the level of the bus fixed, then the full duration of the effect will be applied to any clip that you send to it. It also means, for instance, that the clips don't have to be on the same track. As long as you have a send feed to the bus concerned available from the track, you can then apply it in the same way all over the place. This does, admittedly, take a little longer to set up but it's incredibly flexible.

Well, I figured out about busses. However, can I send just a clip (a sliced, unique part of a track) to a bus? I could only send a whole track to a bus. If yes, how?

That's what the automation is for. You have to enable the send just for when you want it, and turn it off when you don't. You should be able to set this up so that it's only the effect that's audible on the bus, and not the dry signal. If you do it like that, you don't end up having additional dry signal coming from the bus.
