How to remove back ground audio from a speech video recording

We accidentally had our background music embed overtop of the speech we were video recording at an event.  Is there any way to take it out and leave the speech with Adobe Audition?

I'd love to know an answer if found. Only thing I can offer is to see if the file captured has the music recorded into one channel and the vocals in the other. I'm sure you've thought of this, but it's the only thing that I can think of that may be an easy solution. If it's premixed, hopefully there's a powerful, yet affordable option out there to help separate the frequencies.
