I am able to record voice in edit mode and it plays back fine BUT

When it is moved into multitrack i does not playback, it looks like it is there but i can not hear it. In addition if the track is armed as usual and before starting to record (only happens in Multitrack) the vloume maxes out not sure how to fix this anyone help?
