Imported files in audition become distorted.

All files sound awful. I have played many audio files in different programs and they sound ok. Imported into audition, they become distorted. What gives? This started suddenly. My operating system: Windows 10

I've had this happen when playing files through a built-in sound device and Windows 10. Almost invariably it's caused by the sound system itself getting mis-set somehow (probably to do with resampling). Usually it corrects itself eventually, but it's rather annoying. Sometimes just opening the sound settings, resetting a few and then putting them back is enough. Make sure you're using the MME driver as well...
