Indexing sound clips

New Here ,

Hi

Is there a way to import and organise sound clips (maybe in audition) in the same or similar way that photos and videos can be organised in Lightroom?

Many thanks

Jim

Can you describe a bit more how you want to organise your audio clips? Is it by title, by date or some other criteria? A bit like images audio files can contain metadata describing their contents but a lot of it isn't written into a wav or mp3 file by default.

It's not something that Audition can do but it can read any stored metadata and show it in the Metadata window.

Most operating systems like Windows can already search for and list audio files by title and/or date plus a few more types of information that are normally hidden in the Explorer. Right click on the column headers to see all data that can be shown. mp3 files may be slightly different from pure wav files and there are quite a lot of apps available for investigating, listing and editing the metadata stored in them. Search online for 'id3 tags'.

Thanks ryclark

I was thinking of something more like the import and manage in Lightroom.  I think maybe Bridge is what I need to use.  I will have a look at that for sound files.

Just had a quick look at Bridge and I think this will do what I want.  I am using a Zoom H5 recorder.  I can use Bridge to copy and rename sound files from this to my hard disc and then add keywords.  I can then search either on filename or keyword.  In Explorer I have set Audition as the default to open WAV files and now double click on the file in Bridge launces and opens in Audition.

Seems to work, I will give it a go as I develop projects

Best wishes

Jim

I had forgotten about Bridge. I seem to remember that it used to be supplied with Audition some time ago but has been dropped in the recent versions.
