Is it possible to „hide“ unwanted parts of audio track instead of deleting them permanently?

Hello,

let´s say I have an MP3 file with a long interview. And I need to „remove“ some of the questions from it. If I delete them from the file, there is no way to put some of them back later easily. My question is — can Audition „hide“ unwanted parts (like speadsheet editors hide columns) so they can be revealed later? If so, how to do that?

Thanks.

Correct. There isn't any other way of doing it!

Open it up in Multitrack view. (it won't open your MP3, it will convert a copy of it to a wav file, but that's fine). Multitrack is essentially a very posh file player - doesn't alter the original file at all, but lets you make selections from it and shunt them around on the track, join them up if you want, and also lets you add anything else you want, like sound effects or background music. When you mix down the result, you have only the bits you need, and your original file is completely intact.

Hello Steve,
thank you for the answer. If I understand it well, there is no possibility to „hide“ parts of the track, but there is a possibility to „pick“ a part of the source, and then pick another part of the same source etc. and put them on a timeline side by side.
