Looping Playback when it shouldnt

Hey guys,

im really new to Audition and audio narration, but i have hit a problem and im really lost with this.  I have two questions really,

First, i have recored a chapter from a book, when i open the file it all looks normal, the wave pattern is there and the timer reads the correct length but there is no sound.  Its not muted as i can open other files and listen to them no problem.

Second, when I opened the file i was working on and the wave formed looked normal and as it should, but when i played it back it was playing a continuous loop of three words.  I engalged the wave image to look at what it was playing but when i get to a certain point in the zoom it changes from the original wave pattern to a wave pattern of the  three looped words, so now i have thirteen minuets of three words.

Dose anyone have any thoughts on what has happened?

Thank you in advance...

When you recorded this, what recording settings did you use? Sample rate, bit depth and whether it was mono or stereo is what I'm looking for. Also, can you tell me what the file size on the disk appears to be? And did you record this in Multitrack or Waveform view?

There can potentially be a dissociation between what a waveform 'looks' like and what's actually recorded - the visible waveform is constructed (usually) from a 'peak' file that's stored at the same time and in the same location as your actual recording. If there's anything at all faulty about the actual recorded file, then this would indeed give strange results where what you see isn't what you actually get...

Hi Steve,

thanks for the responce.  it was recored with a sample rate of 48000Hz, stereo, bit depth 32(float), waveform audio32-bit floating point (ieee), running length 6:10:185 file size 142.2mb.

the thing that has got me confused is that i played back the file before i went to record the rest of the chapter and it played fine, btu then i had to go sort the little one out who needed the loo and when went to start reording thats when i noticed it had all changed.
