Losing Sound Card when exporting in MP3

Hi Everyone!

We have several Audition CC 2018 computers and a lot of them have a recurring sound issue.

They are working on a project (@ 44100hz and 16bits) with the multitracks. When they are ready to export it in .MP3 (usually 320kbps), Audition CC loses the sound card (RME Hammerfall (Not Working)), they need to close and reopen the software and they are back in business...

Our sound card is a RME HDSPe (PCIe) with a Multiface II box. It is setup in CC 2018 as ASIO @ 1024 buffer size.

So far, here is what we have done :

  • Switch sound card from ASIO to MME with 200 latency.
  • checked off the "Force hardware to adopt same rate as the project"  (sorry for the bad translation, our installations are in French)
  • upgrade CC 2018 to version 11.0.2
  • update the RME firmware to the latest version
  • install a second sound card (M-Audio 192K) for everything coming out from the Web, Outlook, etc.  except for CC 2018. Leave input on RME

With all that, the problem still persists.

Do you guys have any clue what could be the issue ? I'm very desperate

Thanks.

That's all rather odd. I can't see why exporting to .mp3 should have anything to do with losing the audio interface connection. Exporting is purely a file system operation and should go nowhere near your audio drivers.

P.S. Audition CC2018 is now up to v.11.1 which has fixed a few bugs. But nothing similar to your problem. It is probably worth logging it as a Bug with Adobe. Also looking at Audition's log files might show some evidence off what is going on. You can find the log files from Help/Reveal Log Files. Otherwise following the advice in the FAQ Audition Crashed. Now what? might help to get the problem in front of the Development team quicker, although it isn't really a crash.
