M&E creation

Hello,

Can anyone describe how you create M&E? I know very well what it is just trying to understand process of separation music and effects from voice and possible recording requirements for it.

Basically I want to know if you can create M&E every time or if there are cases when you cannot get M&E because of how show audio was recorded?

For example you received just full mix. Can you create M&E from it?

Thank you

Only if the audio for the M&E starts out as separate audio tracks. Once mixed you cannot extract the separate files from the mixed audio. So it depends what you are given to start with. Usually you will either get a Multitrack session to work with all tracks separate or you will be provided with separate audio files which you will have to compile yourself into a Multitrack session. Audition allows you to Export a custom selection of Final mix and separate M&E and Dialogue files all in one go.
