Manipulating HUD with Marquee Selection Silences Clip

I am not sure I'm using the right words, there's a lotta lingo, but the issue I've been having is if I select a small section of the spectral waveform with the marquee or lasso tool and attempt to change the volume with the HUD display, it makes the 3 seconds that are selected in the marquee tool as well as everything underneath/below silent. It's super weird, I tried selecting like the smallest area and making the smallest volume adjustment and I have the same effect- just a random silent blip in my track. Please help, trying to get rid of mouth sounds. 😞

I just tried doing what you have said you are doing and Audition is function properly - just the section selected is affected.

Just to be clear, you do realise that the spectral display is showing frequency and you are turning down the volume of the frequency section selected?

What version of Audition are you running?

Mac or PC?

Hi, I do! I actually just fixed the issue, after I made the selection, then
made the desired edit, for whatever reason if I left the selection
highlighted after I made the edit, it would apply the effect to the entire
section (not just the selection I made). Once I deselected the area, the
effect was applied to the desired section, and the rest of the audio was
untouched. So it must be some sort of weird preview issue or something.
Totally just one of those things that you spend hours obsessing over and
then you accidentally click around and fix..... 😅 Thanks!!
