MACHINE: MIcrosoft Surface Pro 3
OS: Windows 10
Interface: Tascam US-16x08
When I updated to the most recent version of Audition (CC2017), something changed & now whenever I connect my interface, I can't record tracks.
Everything is powered up correctly, & I get levels on any/every channel that I run through the Tascam.
None of these channels are sending to the master, which results in nothing actually being captured.
Help!

I'm not totally clear where your problem is coming in--you mention signals not going to the Master fader and therefore not being recorded but the Master only comes into play for the output, not the input.
I'm also a bit unsure what you mean when you say you have levels on every channel--is that on the Tascam indicators or in Audition.
Anyway, in your circumstances I'd work through the set up for an Audio device.
1. Download and install the latest Tascam drivers for your model of interface. These should be ASIO.
2. Go to Edit/Preferences/Audio Hardware on Audition. Set the Device Type to ASIO and (if you're offered a choice) select the Tascam.
3. Open a new Multitrack session (File/New/Multitrack session.
4. In the settings panel at the left end of each track, set the input (the dropdown menu marked with the right-facing arrow) to mono then select each Tascam channel you need in order. If you don't have enough tracks for what you want to do, go to Multitrack/Track/add mono track.
5. Optional but recommended: Go to File/Export/Session as a template. This way you'll be able to call up your standard blank settings with every new session and not have to go through all the set up.
6. Arm each needed track for record--click on the small R in a box in the settings area at the left end of the track. You can arm as many or as few as you want. At this point you should start to seen level meters on each armed track.
7. To actually record, just hit the main red record button.
Hope this helps and that your problem wasn't something totally different.

Thank you both for engaging my question!
Steve: yes, I can pull up old sessions & they play fine. My issue is trying to record anything new.
Bob: yes, your process is exactly what I am doing. At Step 6, I get response levels in each channel with either a mic or line plugged in. I also see levels bouncing in the master fader that coincide with the levels I see in the selected & armed channels. When I hit "record" (Step 7) that's where the issue lies. I don't see any response levels once I hit "record". When I stop the recording, all the signals for each channel returns.

Also, I checked to ensure that I have the most up-to-date drivers for the Tascam.

When you hit 'record', what if anything do you see? What you should see is blocks of red with the CTI moving through them, and when you stop, the blocks should turn green...

Steve - When I hit "record", I don't have anything actually recording (no blocks of red, so nothing turns green afterward).

The only way I can get that to happen is to arm the track for recording, but forget and accidentally start the transport by hitting the space bar, rather than the transport's 'record' button. If you try this, and then when it's running, hit the 'record' button on the transport, what happens then?

Like Bob says, Audition doesn't work like that. If you are failing to record anything, then the place to start looking is in Preferences, and all of the hardware settings. But it isn't quite clear as to what's actually happening here. Is it just a failure to play anything back, or do previous sessions actually play correctly?
