I've been trying for some time to get my AA3.1 onto my new computer. I've recently realized that I did buy the disk, as I have the box it came in, and the User Guide that came with it, including my written info...customer ID, Serial number, Adobe Tech Support phone numbers, hours etc. What I can't find is the darn disk!
So, while my old computer is still operational, it's a big pain to have to go fire up the old computer to access my .ses files and try an transfer them over to the new computer.
Is there any way for me to transfer/copy all the files for AA3 from my old computer to my new computer, or do I absolutely need the disk?

Unless you also have the "special" installer and serial number which Adobe used to make available for download and install of AA 3.0/3.01, you will not be able to register and use the app on your new computer, even if you do find the missing disc.

So the serial number that came with the disc won't do me any good anyway? In other words, stop wasting time looking for something that's useless??

The alternative is to go to the Adobe Exchange site and purchase a copy of ses2sesx. If you have a lot of sessions, it's probably worth it.

I'll have to check into that.
As I think about it, I was able to get AA 1.5 onto my new computer with the serial number that came with it, so I'm not sure why the 3.0 disc wouldn't accept the serial number that came with it as well. Problem with 1.5, is the session files won't load into their tracks. I seem to recall when upgrading to a higher version, getting a message saying I won't be able to open a particular .ses file in the older version, once I open it in the new version... ahhh roadblocks...

The authentication system for 1.5 and 3 was completely different. Audition 3 used a particular server that crashed rather badly, and to get around the problem Adobe released what was effectively an unlocked version which only worked with one serial number. Upon some legal advice (we're not allowed to discuss what's behind this) all previous versions of software were withdrawn by Adobe a while back, including Audition 3. The only versions you can now download are the current one and its -1 version.
