So I just downloaded audition and was wanting to try it out finally because I've used Audacity for a long time. I'm more than capable with computers but i still dont know whats wrong. I have gone through multiple forums and videos for about an hour and nothing is working.
-I have the audio preferences in Audition set to my microphone I want (an audio interface that an xlr mic is plugged into) that audio source is in fact set to my main audio source as well in windows sound control panel
-I have my headset im using also set in Audition and windows control panel to be used
-both i have set to 98000Hz which is the same in windows control panel and Audition
-In my project I have the track set to be input my mic that is above and my headset it the out.
- the tab on the side does not peak or move and i can not click on the i above it to hear anything.
- when i switch both to the mic in my headset instead my xlr, again nothing works so it seems no matter what mic i use nothing comes out
I really wanted to try out Audition but if i cant even get to the recording part maybe this isnt for me.

98000Hz is a very odd sampling frequency are you sure it is correct?

I can't see your preferences shots (see Richard's comments above, please upload them as .jpg pictures into your post) but in Audition, have you record-enabled the track? That's the little R button in the track controls. If that isn't red, then nothing's going to happen. And with a headset mic, there is absolutely no point in recording at an alarmingly high sample rate; try setting everything to 44.1k samples/sec, and it will work more smoothly anyway.
