Mystery with Non-Responsive Adobe Audition

Folks...

Recently -- I think since the last update -- Audition 2020 has become non-responsive.  I can open files -- new or existing -- but when I try to record or edit, there is NO response to my commands.  I double checked the files to be sure they weren't locked, so that's not the problem.  I can't find a setting that would have disabled any commands...nor would I see the value in one.  But here I sits...wanting to do brilliant editing and EQ work...and Audition is ignoring me in silent belligence.  I'm about to throw a brick through the screen, but I thought someone out there might have a better suggestion.

We couldn't even start on this without knowing whether this is happening on a Mac or a PC...

Thanks...and sorry.  Windows 10.  I decided to uninstall and reinstall Audtion...and that seemed to take care of it...for now anyway.  However, just for context -- and this goes beyond Adobe -- I've noticed a recurring problem with Windows 10 that has surfaced within the last couple of months.  Explorer and other software will spontaneously stop responding to commands, e.g., won't drag and drop, no response to search commands, Epson printer software won't respond to scan commands.  I have to close out the software and reopen in...or sometimes reboot altogether...to revive the interface.  The Audtion issue had the same kind of non-response, but in that case the problem persisted after several reboots.  The reinstall appeared to have corrected that problem for the moment.  But I'm holding my breath.
