Fairly new to Audition altho I have done a lot in SONAR (Which i no longer have).
I'm trying to stretch the length (tempo) of a file but not the pitch.
Heres what's blowing my mind. Youtube tutorials, it looks pretty simple, create multi-track session (easy enough), import song into track (easy enough) and then look on the right hand corner for a little sqaure that says VOLUME
Mine doesnt. It says PAN and I cannot figure out how to set this little right hand square to VOLUME. And then I can supposedly drag the file out to the right which will increase the length and slow it down.
Is there an easier way? Even if there is, can someone show me how to change the PAN upper right to VOLUME?
Any help would be appreciated.

It doesn't matter whether it says volume or pan - that's only a reference point for what you're really looking for:
Which is that little white triangle. First, right-click on the clip, and make sure Stretch mode is switched on. Now if you look in the clip's properties box you can twirl down to the stretch properties and set up exactly what you want - or you can drag it using the mouse and the white triangle. You'll know you've hit it, because the cursor will change to a little thing with arrows pointing each way.

thanks, very helpful
out of curiousity, why does my Audition say PAN when every single youtube tutorial says VOLUME?
I know in this case it doesnt matter, I'm just wondering how I can change it or perhaps what I did to accidentally change it myself

Hmm... what it actually says in the top right-hand corner depends entirely on the last envelope you clicked on - even if it isn't visible in the display. So if you enable both pan and volume envelopes and click on one or the other, that label will change.
In other words, it's Just One Of Those Things!
