Picking up timecode for multitrack WAV's when armed for recording

Sorry if this is a basic question - but I'm recording a multitrack voice over against pictures with timecode, and I'd like the .WAV's that get produced to have the multitrack timecode when they are opened. Instead when they open each waveform starts at 00:00:00:00. Is there a way for it to pick up the multitrack timecode from the point of recording?

I'm currently setting an in and out point and then arming the track and recording - but I'd like every take to pick up the timecode when opened in the future so that it's obvious where in the session it was recorded.

Currently if I double click a wave on the multitrack timeline it does pick up the timecode - but only where it was at that moment in time - so its not actually embedded anywhere.

Thanks in advance

Matt

If you look at the properties of a recorded and selected clip it will show it's start time. You can check it also by going to the Metadata panel and looking at the BWF metadata which should show the time reference. This reference should be stored in the files metadata when you save it providing you are saving to a .wav file. Also the position of the clip is stored in the session file so that the next time you open that session the file clip will end up in the same place anyway.

If you were to import the file into a new Audition Multitrack session the file will automatically be placed at the correct timeline timecode providing that feature is enabled in Preferences/Multitrack Clips/Use Embedded Timecode....

Thanks for this - but the properties start time of the WAV says 00:00:00:00 even though the multitrack is punching in at say 10:23:43:12. Is there a setting anywhere that tells audition to give the start time the same in code as the multitrack in when punching?

Normally the correct insert time would be picked up when the file was opened. If it isn't, you can alter it manually in the BWF metadata panel:

BWF time.JPG

The blue time reference can be either typed in, or increased/decreased by scrolling over with the mouse.
