While editing audio in AA (CC version), the controlls will seem to stutter/shudder for a second, and then afterward, playback becomes silent. However, the playhead still moves. I've gotten so used to it that it's part of my workflow now :-P. I simply save the file, shut AA, andopen it again. then it works fine again. I'm using the latest update of Windows 10.
Does this probelm sound familiar to anyone else? If so, is there a solution?
BTW, this does not seem to be JUST AA. It happens in Reaper too.

You'll need to do some process checking on your machine and find out what exactly is taking over. What usually causes these particular symptoms is having Windows Sounds active. These can take over your sound device in an instant and change the sample rate from whatever Audition was using to something much lower. Audition is still connected, but the soundcard settings have been switched - so no output.
So initially at least, make sure that you've picked the sound scheme that says 'no sounds'. You may also want to check out a few of the other possibilities - WiFi polling can screw playback, as can anti-virus software.

Thanks Steve,
I checked and already had "no sounds" selected under Windows Sounds.
What would be the best way to check cause-and-effect with Wi-Fi polling or anti-virus software?
