This error appeared suddenly a couple of weeks ago... then it went away... and now it's back! I haven't changed anything in particular in that time.

Here are some screenshots of my multitrack. I'm using a Macbook pro with Audition CC 2019. All files are neatly in my documents on the hard drive and I've tried every change of setting under the mixdown menu that I can, including changing the file name/type, location, bitrate etc.

I use no third party plugins (can't download them anyway as it's a university machine) - just the standard ones like denoise, convolution reverb etc. I've now pre-rendered every track in a vain effort to get it working, but it's made no difference. This happens when trying to mix down a time selection or the whole thing. Please help!

Well in the end I tracked this down to one particular bus which was 'overloaded'. If I deleted the bus I could mixdown everything else. Then restore and delete all the other buses and mixdown the 'naughty' bus (splitting it into two - deleting half the tracks and mixing down, then restore and mixdown the other half). Then combine the 3 mixdowns in a new multitrack and mixdown...
