Recording from Stereo speakers directly into Audition

New Here ,
Oct 26, 2018 Oct 26, 2018

Usually I just play sounds from my computer and then I can record it directly into Audition. Sometimes when I run Audition and

hit record I will see no soundwaves from the audible sounds I am hearing. Today it is doing this.

How do I check the audio hardware to be able to record what I am hearing? (Sample rates, bit depth, stereo / speakers / recording in the sound panel)

I am using Windows.

On a Windows PC you have to go to the Windows Sound Record panel and make sure that that has What You Hear or Stereo set as the Record source. Whilst you are there you can set whatever format you want from the ones that Windows offers you. Then in Audition's Audio Hardware preferences select MME or WASAPI as Device Class and whatever your PC's audio device (possibly Realtek) as Input and Output Device.
