Separating instruments on the same track

New Here ,
Feb 06, 2017 Feb 06, 2017

I have a recording of two guitars, one playing the melody, the other the accompaniment on the same track. How can I separate the two instruments so that I can learn the accompaniment

Cheers

If the recording is stereo, and there's some separation between the guitars, then you might be able to reduce the volume of one of them. If they are both panned to the same place, or it's a mono recording, then you stand no chance at all; it's a bit like trying to unbake a cake, I'm afraid - you simply can't separate them. Yes I realise that they can apparently do this on CSI, but that programme does not represent any form of reality!
