Spacebar behavbiour locked in flick-back

This is driving me insane.  The cat jumped on my keyboard and now the spacebar behaviour toggle play/pause jumps back to the origin of the start play point in a clip instead of stopping where it is. This happens in both Waveform and Multitrack view.

Obviously, there is a keystroke somewhere that will allow me to select a behaviour for toggle play/pause, but I can't find a reference to it.

The Toggle Playback Auto-scroll (A) button in multitrack also cannot be switched off, but this may be intended, I'm not sure.

Can anyone please let me know what sequence/key I need to press to change the behaviour of the spacebar back to normal Play/Pause without the flick-back happening?

Many thanks

Nominally it's Shift+X, but there's a whole set of options in Edit>Preferences>Playback and Recording, including the autoscroll behaviour.
