I'm running into a couple of problems:
1. (This one has happened to me many many times): I go co close Audition. It asks me if I want to save all unsaved changes. I click yes or yes to all, but no matter what I click, even if I click no, the program will not close. the only way I can get out is to cancel it through task manager, and of course I've lost a lot of work, though I never know exactly how much.
2. I save my file, as I do often. Then it starts trying to export the work to ... I don't know where, but that's inevitably followed by the message "The file is in use by another application and cannot be overwritten."
Both of these problems often recur even after I reboot the whole system.
Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

Hard to say... I take it we're talking about a multi-track session. Initially, could you do a screen-grab of the Edit>Preferences>Media and Disk Cache page in Audition? And what are your auto-save settings? Particularly, the specified location?

We are assuming that you are using the latest version of Audition? On which computer platform and operating system?

Yes, I recently upgraded to the 2017 version. But these problems plagued me before the upgrade.

Sorry about the screenshot size. Not sure how to control it. Autosave settings are:
-Auto save recovery data every 10 minutes (checked)
-Backup multitrack session files automatically (checked); back up interval every 3 minutes, maximum backup files 10; backup location "Within Session Folder"

Forgot to mention - which may be important - that the source files are on a shared network drive. However, Even when I'm sure that other users have closed Audition, the problem persists.

Aha. Yes having your working files stored on a network drive can be a problem as Audition can lose track of where the file is saved especially if others may be working on it and saving different versions. It is generally better to keep all your working files on your local hard drives and only back them up to the shared network drive once you have closed Audition.

I wondered as much, but unfortunately the source files have to remain on a shared drive. What I don't recall ever seeing before is program trying to export the file when I hit Save. Export to where? It inevitably stops and fails after a few percent tick off, and I'm left not knowing whether the multirack is saved or not, until I close out and reopen Audition. And this dynamic only happens for some projects. In other projects, I never see this attempt to export when I save my work.
