Hi.
I'm working on a film, editing in Premiere Pro.
One scene has problematic audio and we'll need to re-record some voice and pretty much rebuild the audio track for that scene in Adobe Audition.
I exported the scene as an MP4 for work in Adobe Audition.
I exported it with audio, since the audio track does contain some sounds and voice that I would want to use as a reference track for syncing.
When importing the MP4 in Audition and playing it in the Audition timeline, the video and audio are not in sync. Seems like the video is lagging behind the audio by a fraction of a second.
When playing the exported MP4 in VLC Media Player — it's totally fine, so this leads me to believe that this is an Audition issue rather than a Premiere issue.
Does anyone have any ideas why this might be happening?
Audition CC 2018 v.11.1.1.3Windows 10
i7-6700HQ
32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 RAM
Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 Audio Interface
Thanks!
All I can suggest further is that you update Audition to the latest version 12.1 CC 2019. You are about a year behind with CC 2018 and it could well make a difference to how Audition decodes the video. If you have the Adobe Creative Cloud desktop app installed it should have told you about at least a couple of updates since your version was released.

Just wanted to add a bit more info:
The audio and video do not "drift" out of sync as the clip progresses, but rather is already out of sync from the get go, just seconds into playback.
The source video and exported video are both 23.976 FPS.
The Audio is 24bit/16.
I've tried also exporting using GoPro Cineform codec in a MOV wrapper, but got the same results.

There are settings in Audition's Preferences for turning on and off video hardware acceleration. It is under Preferences/General 'Use hardware acceleration for drawing'. Try with it both on and off to see if that makes any differences to video playback sync.

Hi ryclark. Sorry for the delayed response.
I tried setting 'Use hardware acceleration for drawing' to both on and off (restarting after changing the setting each time).
It made no difference. The video still lags a fraction of a second behind the audio

Unless, of course, you haven't updated the app itself. For some strange reason, failing to do that appears to prevent it from telling you about updates...
