voice not in synchrony with cursor movement

Community Beginner ,

I moved to a new laptop with windows 11. I installed, uninstalled and reinstalled Audition 23.3 and 22.6, but  still voice and cursor are not in synchrony. I did not have this issue with old laptop with windows 10.

Please advise!

Have you checked to see if your video driver is up to date? Because of Microsoft's antics, some manufacturers are having to change them every few weeks. But I have to say in the same breath that from what I've seen and heard from others, I'm not putting Windows 11 onto any machines until I'm absolutely forced to.

Yes, I checked, it's up to date: "Windows has determined that the best driver for this device is installed... "

Windows may think so, but experience shows that you need to think that the driver's manufacturer thinks so as well... can you roll back to Windows 10? It's distinctly better.

I realise that it's a bit harsh, but I'd take the laptop back and complain that it's not fit for purpose.

Well, I talked with the computer support and he actually looked at my computer: settings, etc., tried a few things as well, and in the end he advised to contact Adobe Audition since it might be a setting issue on Adobe's side.

There are no settings that will affect this that I'm aware of, but let's look at it the other way around. What compensation there's been in the past has come from the audio driver reporting its processing delay to Audition, which can compensate for it - when it knows what it is (there are no user settings for it). This generally applies to Multitrack view, and it's useful for getting Multitrack takes to line up - but it does depend on the audio driver reporting it, and that's a moveable feast. You haven't said what audio device you are using, nor have you indicated how great the lack of synchronisation is - a little more information might help. But the fact that it works fine with Windows 10 doesn't exactly point the finger at Adobe necessarily, does it? The other thing is that if this was a general fault, loads of people would have complained about it by now (like with the Marker bug), but they haven't...

So, today I tried old computer (Dell) with Windows 11, Audition works well. Audio device on old computer, input/output: Conexant Smart Audio HD. New computer (LG), input: 2-Intel Smart Sound Technology for Digital Microphones; output: 2-Realtek(R) Audio. The lack of syncronization is approx. 1.5 sec. Funny, I discovered that Skype working in the background eliminates the lag.

Since old (Dell) computer with Windows 11 doesn't have the synchrone issue, I'm assuming we can eliminate the interference due to Windows update. Is it possible that the audio device (input: 2-Intel Smart Sound Technology for Digital Microphones; output: 2-Realtek(R) Audio) causes the issue? What should I do?

Generally, external sound devices work better than anything internal.

Is there any solution without spending additional money? I switched to a new computer to improve my work, not to spend more money to be able to do the work I already did. If it's not Windows, then there has to be some kind of setting (Audition or new computer) that would fix the issue. Right?
