Waveforms are not rendering correctly - just lines

New Here ,

I am having an odd problem with my waveform display. My waveforms are rendering, but only as lines rather than the filled-in waveforms that are the norm. I have included screen grabs at various magnifications just to show that this is not an issue of being too zoomed in to the waveform, but instead happens in all views. Is there a setting I am not aware of that changes the way waveforms are displayed?

I am working in Adobe Audition 12.01.34 and and running Mojave an a mac book pro.

I really don't get this at all. Waveforms have never been 'filled in' in Audition - they are a representation of exactly what a real electrical waveform would do, which is to have an instantaneous value. You only ever see them appeared to be filled in when you zoom out, and there's no setting at all to let you alter this.
