Will downloading Audition interfere with old version?

Hello, my work computer has Adobe Audition version 3 already installed. If I download the current version, could it disrupt the old version? Or interfere with other computers on the network that also have the old version? Or would it just install its own separate version that won't impact anybody else? Thank you.

As soon as you install any part of the Cloud, even a trial, it replaces your program management system
-if you plan to keep using a serial number program you should NOT install a Cloud program, not even a trial
-Read Cloud takes over https://community.adobe.com/t5/Get-Started/Get-off-the-cloud/td-p/8075485 for some ideas

Also, that old version MAY be so old that you will never be able to activate it again

The CS2-CS3-CS4 activation servers have been removed from service
-https://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite.html?promoid=19SCDRQK
-So even if you have a disc or saved download, CS2-CS3-CS4 are completely dead

Thanks for your answer! I'm getting conflicting information from different sources. Here's another post from this forum, with a green "correct answer" checkmark:
"Separate versions, separat install and licensing. CS6 will do nothing to your existing software and as a matter of fact your CS5 will remain in place even with the full version of CS6 unless you explicitly uninstall it....Mylenium"

Any consensus? Has anybody else tried this? Again, I'm trying to install the current Audition without messing up my workplace's Audition version 3. Thanks!

Installing CS6 while CS5 is installed is not the same thing as installing a Cloud program beside an existing serial number program... proceed at your own risk

Technically, Creative Cloud software does not replace pre-exisiting versions.  The new software is installed in separate folders on your HD.  But you can't run both new & old programs at the same time.

Okay, I've got one yea and one nay vote. Anybody want to break the tie? Wondering if installing the current version of Audition will mess up Audition version 3, which is already installed on the computer. I'm not trying to use them at the same time on a single machine, but the workplace's computers are networked. Will installing the new version impact anybody else's access to Audition 3? Thanks so much.

I can't answer that.  I don't know how Audition 3 is managed by your network.  You should ask your IT dept about that.

The IT guy thinks it will be fine, but the first reply on this forum makes it sound like it will be terrible. Hoping for a third voice here. Any Adobe software engineers out there, or ideas on how to reach them? Thanks.

This is a user-to-user forum with little input from Adobe employees.  Engineers never lurk here.

If your IT guy thinks it will be fine, it probably will.  He's in a much better position to know how your network is configured.

I've had old and new software installed side-by-side without issue.  But everyone's system is different.

File associations, for example, may default to the newer version.  But Creative Cloud won't remove your old product.

Okay, here's the deal: All versions of Audition are designed to co-exist peacefully. This has always been the case, right back to when it was Cool Edit. The CC app doesn't uninstall anything. Audition 3 wasn't ever a CC app, so any comments about it are a separate issue. If you have it working on your system, don't ever take it off because you won't be able to reinstall it unless you can find a rogue copy of the 'unlocked' version that Adobe released to get around the authentication server switch-off. The legal team dictated that it was removed, for reasons that we're not allowed to discuss, so we won't.

On this laptop I have Audition 3 installed (because we still get questions about it) and at least three of the later versions installed, along with the current one. They all run fine, and you can even run Audition 3 and a later version simultaneously, although that's not recommended - there will be a sound device fight unless you are careful!
