Symmetrical Cross Fades now default?

Since the most recent update, all my clips are defaulting to symmetrical crossfades rather than asymmetrical.

Symmetrical crossfades do not work for dialogue editing, since asymmetry maintains the noise floor evenly.

Every edit I make, I now have to right click the fade square and set it to asymmetrical, which is annoying and taking me a lot of extra time that adds up over thousands of edits per episode.

I looked in the preferences panel and couldn't find any setting to change this back, nor have I been able to find the answer within the manual/documentation.

As Matt mentioned, this has been updated in the Audition Beta, available in the Creative Cloud Desktop app, and will be in the next main release update of Audition.

Hi William-

Thanks for the report. In the meantime, you can set a keyboard shortcut for “Fade In Asymmetrical” to quickly change the fade type.

Best,
Michael

I'm having the same issue. Since this change, editing voice has become sooooo much more labor intensive! I'll try out the keyboard shortcut to help speed things along, but it sure would be nice to be able to set this default somewhere.

I unsubscribed and pirated an old version of Audition. This is unbelievable. This is UNUSABLE. I have been a poweruser since VERSION 3. To make this kind of a change, this monumentally huge kind of a change that is at its core a remarkably stupid and idiotic decision, and to make it UN-OPT-OUTABLE, is UNBELIEVABLE. When you're working at a huge scale with thousands of edits per projects and to waste that much time figuring out what's wrong - guess what, the engineering team is utterly crapper its so fascinating, and AUTO UPDATES should have been left OFF a long time ago.
WHAT WAS EVEN THE DECISION BEHIND THIS??? Who asked? No, seriously, WHO asked? WHO thought THIS was better? WHO thinks symetrical is BETTER for ANY edits? WHO? No one. NO ONE! Goodbye

Thank you for the rational comments and requests. As Michael mentioned in the status update, we're taking a look at the work that introduced this change in the default behavior and should have more information soon.

Just a quick note to say that this should be reverted, and the old behavior returned in the current Public Beta version of Audition.
