So I have a strange issue that has come up recently. There are three scenarios I've run into, one of which doesn't work as it should (Scenario 2)
SCENARIO 1:
When I open a RAW file from Bridge using ACR, and add some basic edits and basic masks (not the new AI masks, but things like Brushed masks or radials or gradiants) and then click "Open" or "Open Object" or "Open Copy" ACR saves the edits, and then opens PS and the image appears. This works fine as it should.
SCENARIO 2:
HOWEVER, If I repeat this process and use some of the new AI masking features (like Select Subject or Select Sky) and click Open, ACR saves the edits and then closes, but PS won't load automatically like it did in the previous scenario. Now, if I go and do the "Clear Settings" from the Develop Settings optin in the popup menu (in Bridge) and then repeat the first step, it works fine again. This does not seem to work as expected.
SCENARIO 3:
I open PS first and then open a RAW file, and it brings up ACR and I do some edits, add some AI masks, and click Open. It opens fine Photoshop, as expected using this method.
Is there some known issue where you cannot open an image into PS from the ACR interface if you use AI masks as described in Scenario 2. I've only noticed this with the most recent updates to Photoshop, Bridge and ACR. I'm thinking it's some issue between Bridge and Photoshop (ie. Bridge not handing off the file to Photoshop after the ACR popup window shows up when you launch ACR from Bridge).
I've gone to the extent to uninstall all Adobe products, remove all registry keys, remove all ADobe folders and re-install. Doesn't fix the issue.
I've even created a new user account in Windows 11 (same issue happens on my Windows 10 machine too) and that doesn't seem to help so I'm wondering if this is a bug in the latest version of Bridge. I have the latest version of all programs installed, as of Yesterday (including PS 24.0.1).

Hi, @sirhawkeye Great extensive testing.
Alas, this is a known bug, and Adobe is working on it.
Until this is fixed, I am aware of two ways around this: both require a bit of mental planning on your part, but they do seem to work. This will only work with raw (or DNG) files.
1) From Bridge, drag the file(s) onto Photoshop in the Dock or Taskbar. These will then open in ACR and will then "Open" in PS.
2) Select the file(s) you want to open but instead of double-clicking, right-click and select "Open with …" and select the version of PS you want to use.
These "tricks" work because in both cases you telling your computer to open these in PS. However, since they are raw files, they have to first be opened in ACR on their way to PS. So, you're telling your computer where you want to end up.
And hopefully, Adobe will fix this soon.

Thanks for confirming. I just did a clean install and got the same result so it definitely is. Glad to know I'm not crazy at least. I posted a topic at DPR and two people kept telling me it was a corrupt install, as they supposeldy were able to get it to work, but I'm also starting to wonder if they also had the issue but were just saying it didn't affect them. That or they were getting confused thinking I was opening the files directly in PS, with the ACR pop up there, which does work fine.
I've been doing the workaround of editing files in ACR (from Bridge). Closing ACR and then launching PS manually and re-opening the files there (which causes ACR to pop up again, but I just click on Open at that point as my edits are already done previously before going to PS).

While you certainly can continue as you are currently doing, if you do as I've suggested, it reduces a step.
enjoy!
