Any way to force Bridge to show subdirectories/filenames before thumbnails?

Quite often when I select a directory in Bridge I have to wait a minute or more for it to allow me to select a subdirectory.  I have to wait for the program to show the thumbnails for everything in the selected directory.  Needless to say, this causes huge wastes of time when all I want to do is get into a subdirectory.

Is there a preference somehwere that tells Bridge to prioritize showing subdirectories (and, ideally, filenames) BEFORE generating thumbnail images?  Such an option would be a tremendous speed-up for my workflow.

If it matters, I'm on Windows 10.  And I've had this same problem with both CS6 and the CC version of the Adobe suite on several different computers.

Thanks,

No, there is no setting for that. The Bridge team has been trying to make loading thumbnails faster, but they still need to do a lot more work on this. It is frustrating.
