Auto delete files?

I've two Bridge windows opened side by side.

Different folders selected in each of them.

If I delete a file in one window (folder) the same file (same name and size) is automatically deleted in the other folder too - that's horrible and I'm glad I noticed it in time.

Why is Bridge doing this? Please fix this bug!

Hi @konrad79 ,
Thank you for reporting the issue. We have successfully replicated the scenario and have begun our investigation. It appears that Bridge is not actually deleting the file from the other folder but rather reflecting it incorrectly.
We apologize for the inconvenience caused.
Regards,
Bridge Team

You need to post a video of this happening.

I tried this myself and I am able to confirm the behaviour you described.

This is under Windows 11, Bridge version 14.0.2.191

I have no solution however, sorry.

Hi both @konrad79 and @Erik Bloodaxe

This may be worse AND not as bad as it seems. I replicated this issue on my Mac (OS 13.5.2) Studio. Here's what I did:

  • I had a folder of images with four images on my hard drive. I made a copy of this folder and placed it on an external drive
  • One of the images I made a copy of (so it was "image-copy.jpg)."
  • I had each of these folders on their own Bridge window
  • I selected the copy version on one of these windows and clicked on the trash can to delete it. It immediately disappeared from the 2nd window.
  • I then typed command-z to undo the deletion, and the copy in the first window reappeared, but it did not in the second window.
  • I then went into the second window of the original file and made a copy of it, which resulted in a file called "image-copy (1).jpg." That can only happen if there already is a copy of "image-copy.jpg" in that folder!
  • I then went to the Pathbar, clicked on the folder containing the folder in question, and then went back to that folder (I did this to force a refresh of the folder). There was now both image-copy.jpg AND image-copy (1).jpg in that folder

Thus, while it appears that the other file was removed, it wasn't, but Bridge thought it was removed, so it visibly removed the file, which was still there.

Thanks to all for finding this.

Further testing is necessary, but suffice it to say, this is a mess.
