Hi, @Kirsten35837203qgz0, are you trying to move the files or the folder containing the files. If you're doing the former, try doing the latter. Also, be aware that a new folder can only be added below the default folders.

Hi, @Kirsten35837203qgz0, Yeah, I think I see a number of issues there. Let me see if I can get you going straight.

First, do you see that line under "Folders" and not "Favorites?" That means that you are in the Folders Panel, not the Favorites Panel.

2024-03-04_16-09-57.png

Earlier today I was working on a project (writing an instruction blog on how to make a specific woodworking jig). I think I can use that to show you how you might do what I did to accomplish what you want. I took all of my images and had them in the master folder. Then I made three sub-folders in this original folder. I then renamed them where they were with the names: (1) the jpg images I was using, (2) the original images (DNGs) that were used, and (3) the original images that I was not going to use.

Then I went to each folder, right-clicked on the folder, and selected "Open in New Content Panel."

2024-03-04_16-13-37.png

When I finished, my Content Panel looked like this:

2024-03-04_16-13-05.png

 As you can see, there are very few images in the original folder right now becuase as I used them, I moved them into the proper folder. I did that by mousing down on the image(s) and draging the mouse over to the proper folder. I then held over that folder's name until that folder opened up. Then I moved the mouse (and the file(s) down over the conent region and then let go. The files were then moved to the proper folder.

So, the process is:

  • select and mouse down;
  • drag up to the folder's name;
  • hold for a moment;
  • once that folder is the active folder drag down;
  • let go.

If you do the same by creating the years you want/need for your files, open them in respective folders, you'll be able to do the same thing.

Now, ONE IMPORTANT THING! If you look at the image above, you see a line underneath the first title. That means that that is the name of the folder that is the active folder. If that line is underneath any other folder's name, that means that THAT is the active folder. There is a certain amount of Zen to this process because you do have to wait a moment for the active folder to change. But this pause is NO different than moving a layer or image in Photoshop to a different image.

Let me know if I need to explain anything further and do let me know if this works for you.

Good luck!

OK, I've created a video and placed it on YouTube. The link to the video is https://youtu.be/kereuAubGiM

I'd appreciate your letting me know how clear this is and if it helps you. I've not done too many videos, so any comments can only help :>).

This video shows how to create new Content Tabs in Bridge so that you can move files from one folder to another in Bridge

Gary, your video is so clear.  is it because they are .avi files?

its the only thing I can think of.

Ok so found the problem.  .avi files are not good.  I've converted a couple to mp4 files and then moved them into the correct month and year.  I've used Adobe Express.  Is there any way to convert a large number of files at once?  This is such a slow process.

The file type shouldn't matter. Try dragging to the Folder shown in Folders or Favorites, not a new tab, tabs can still be a problem. And can you move these files in the Finder?

Hi, @Kirsten35837203qgz0, I just did a test. I had no AVI files, so I found some online and moved them just as I did the image files. No problems, no issues.

As Lumigraphics stated, the file type should not make a difference. I didn't bother going in that direction because I knew the same answer.

Have you had a chance to check Apple's protection yet? Even if you've done it before with previous OSs, it's not uncommon to need to do that again after an update.

OK, thank you for the video, it was VERY helpful.

#1 – I'm not sure what's going on because you are IN that folder but having issues with it.

so, let's go back to basics, have you done the following?

Go into the System Preferences and select the Privacy & Security tab on the left. Note that there are two options on the right you'll need to deal with: "Files and Folders," and "Full Disk Access."

gary_sc_0-1709709350140.png

First, going into Files and Folders, note that in various years of different releases of Adobe Bridge, different needs are needed. I do not know why this is, but it's always better to check and make sure that just because you did it for one release, you may or may not need it for a subsequent release.

Lastly, go into the Full Disk Access option. If you do not see your application in the list, click on the "+" symbol at the very bottom of the window. This will bring up a standard Finder window. Navigate to your Applications Folder, find Adobe Bridge, and add it to the list (You will need to add your Administrator's password to do this.). Then you can "switch" it to the "ON" position.

I'm guessing here, let me know if that works or not.

And OK, you have a British accent. Where are you from? I'm in California USA.

Ah, OK. There are regions of Australia that, to my ears, sound more British. I was mostly wondering what time zone you were in because of gaps in time for a response.

I still don't understand why you cannot move more than one at a time. That doesn't make sense, but if that's what you can do, I'm glad we got partially there.
